The glass:
The glass when it is cooled has a harden structure, however when you start to heat it, it starts to get a liquid and flexible form and then can not start sculpting, connecting and creating almost anything you want.
There are many types of glass that can be worked with and shaped with. The glass that is common in my studio where I create and teach with, is “borosilicate” – most of you know it as Pyrex. The uniqueness of this glass is that it remains stable at high heat.
What tools do we use in glass blowing:
The main tool is of course the tourch – it creates a flame at a temperature of 1600 degrees and into it we will put the glass. In addition we will work with goggles to protect the eyes,Scissors that will cut the glass, tweezers to tighten and of course our breath.

Inspirational Glass Artists:
One of the artists I was privileged to study with is Simona Cristiani, an Italian artist, with a natural gift and meny years of expiriance. Simone’s greatness is in inventing techniques in working with a tourch to create a huge and spectacular work of art. He has the ability to work at high heat with great tools and he creates spectacular home decor tools and amazing artwork. Among his things you will find the famous glass bonsai trees.
